Ace Combat 8 MRP Farming & Spending

Quick Answer

Choose one aircraft-tree destination and include prerequisite costs. For farming, compare Missions 7, 24, 28 and other unlocked candidates by banked MRP divided by total time, including retries. No universal fastest route is verified.

MRP is the campaign currency used to move through the Aircraft Tree in ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE. You earn it from completed Campaign and Free Mission sorties, then spend it on aircraft, special weapons, and upgrade parts. The fastest practical approach is not simply to repeat whichever mission shows the largest reward. First, choose an aircraft destination, avoid unrelated branches, keep progressing until repeatable missions are available, and farm the mission you can finish reliably at the best net MRP per minute.

Do not use an advertised payout as a guarantee. First-clear bonuses, difficulty, score, targets destroyed, failures, and total run time can change the value of a route. No single mission is established as the best route for every hangar and skill level. Treat the missions below as supported candidates, test them with your own hangar, and bank every run by completing the sortie.

Trace costs in the Aircraft Tree guide and choose a destination using aircraft recommendations. The campaign list identifies the unlocked sorties you can compare.

How MRP and the Aircraft Tree work

ACE COMBAT 8 Aircraft Tree showing upgrade branches, current MRP, and the MRP after purchase

The Aircraft Tree shows both prerequisite branches and the MRP impact of a purchase.

The Aircraft Tree is a connected progression path, not a shop where every displayed aircraft is immediately available. A plane’s listed price is only its first-copy aircraft price. Reaching it may also require other aircraft, weapons, or parts along the connecting route. That makes the real cost of a destination higher than the number beside the final aircraft.

Campaign purchases persist into later campaign runs and Free Missions, so there is no need to clear every branch during the first playthrough. MRP and Aircraft Tree progress are also separate from ACE COMBAT ONLINE progression. Aircraft or resources earned in the online mode should not be treated as a way to fill the campaign tree.

A completed sortie matters more than a high score that ends in failure. Destroying extra targets can increase the value of a run, but only while the main objective remains secure. When a mission becomes risky, finish it instead of chasing one more distant target.

How to spend MRP without wasting it

Use a destination-first budget:

  1. Open the Aircraft Tree and choose one aircraft you genuinely want.
  2. Trace every required node backward to something you already own.
  3. Note which connecting aircraft, special weapons, and parts are mandatory.
  4. Identify optional purchases that solve an immediate mission problem.
  5. Follow that route until the destination is unlocked, then reconsider the rest of the tree.

This prevents the common pattern of buying a cheap Fighter, an unrelated Attacker, and several tempting weapons before discovering that the preferred late-game aircraft is still multiple nodes away. Cheap does not mean efficient when a purchase leads away from your goal.

The free starting F/A-18C is a flexible Multirole aircraft, so replacing it immediately is not mandatory. A player conserving MRP also receives an A-6E after clearing Mission 14. That does not make purchased Attackers useless; it means an early Attacker should be bought because its weapons or role solve a real problem, not because the class label makes it appear compulsory.

Before buying a plane, check whether upcoming operations require a carrier-capable aircraft. A powerful land-based jet is poor value for the next mission if it cannot launch from that mission’s starting location. Also inspect its available special weapons. A more expensive airframe is not automatically the better mission tool if it lacks the weapon type your target mix demands.

A worked destination budget

The F-35C route provides a useful example of why the sticker price is incomplete:

Aircraft on the routeFirst-copy aircraft price
F/A-18C HornetFree
Mirage 2000-5130,000 MRP
F/A-18E or F/A-18F Super Hornet240,000 MRP
EA-18G Growler350,000 MRP
F-35C Lightning II550,000 MRP

Those aircraft prices add up to 1,270,000 MRP after the free Hornet, but the actual route costs more because connecting parts must also be purchased. Use this as a budgeting method, not a universal recommendation. If the F-22A or Su-57 is your preferred destination, trace that branch instead.

How to earn MRP efficiently

During a first campaign, continued story progress is usually more useful than stopping for a long grind. Later sorties present more targets, while each completed mission advances you toward Free Mission and a wider choice of repeatable routes. Farm early only when a specific aircraft, weapon, or part is needed to overcome a real progression problem.

Difficulty can raise earnings, but the highest setting is not automatically the most efficient. A larger reward loses its advantage if the run becomes much slower or ends in frequent restarts. Use the highest difficulty you can clear consistently, then move up only after the route, reinforcement waves, and objective changes are familiar.

Free Mission is the natural place for deliberate farming after the campaign. It lets you select a known sortie, bring an appropriate aircraft and loadout, and repeat it without replaying the entire story. It also turns MRP grinding into useful cleanup: ranks, Aces, medals, machine-gun goals, and other completion objectives can be pursued while currency accumulates.

Measure net MRP per minute

Compare missions with a simple repeatable test:

  1. Start timing from mission selection, not from the first enemy contact.
  2. Include briefing, loading, sortie, checkpoint recovery, and results time.
  3. Record the MRP actually banked after completion.
  4. Repeat the same route at least three times.
  5. Divide total banked MRP by total minutes across all completed and failed attempts.
  6. Keep the route with the best reliable rate, not the largest single result.

This method handles the variables that fixed payout claims hide. A short mission with modest rewards may beat a long mission with a spectacular result screen. A route with a checkpoint may be safer, while a clean early mission may be better for a developing hangar. Re-test after changing difficulty, aircraft, special weapons, or parts.

Compare the supported farming candidates

There is no verified universal best farming mission. The following missions are useful candidates at different stages; exact payouts are deliberately omitted because the player reports vary.

Mission 7 for an early repeatable route

Mission 7 is an Annihilation mission built around ground and aerial targets spread across several areas. It becomes available early enough to serve players who need MRP before reaching the late campaign. A Multirole aircraft with an area ground-attack option can reduce travel and cleanup time, while standard missiles cover targets that do not justify special-weapon ammunition.

The goal is not to empty the map at any cost. Secure the required score, destroy additional targets only while time and ammunition allow, and finish. If the route forces slow passes over reinforced targets or causes frequent failures, campaign progress may be more productive.

Mission 24 for mixed-target farming

ACE COMBAT 8 Mission 24 gameplay with Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie allied groups, a pillbox target, and the tactical radar

Mission 24 mixes allied group markers with surface targets visible on the radar.

Mission 24 combines aerial threats, defenses near the landing route, and targets that endanger allied groups. Its mixed target set rewards a versatile aircraft and a loadout that can handle both fighters and surface objectives. Protecting the advancing allies and removing threats in their path are part of completing a productive run; wandering after unrelated targets can reduce reliability.

This candidate becomes more attractive when your hangar has stronger aircraft, improved standard missiles, and a suitable ground-attack weapon. Judge it by complete-run time. A high score does not establish a good farm if escort failures or target switching make results inconsistent.

Mission 28 for a late air-to-air route

Mission 28 has a large number of aerial targets and access to the Cima Island airstrip for rearming. That makes an air-to-air aircraft with multi-target weapons a sensible farming setup after the mission is available. Rearm before ammunition pressure turns the run into a failure, then prioritize completing the sortie so the accumulated MRP is banked.

Community reports also point to Missions 16 and 27 as farms, but the available information does not establish a comparable, repeatable rate for them. They remain candidates to test rather than guaranteed winners. Compare those replays by completion time, failure rate, and banked reward before committing to a farming loop.

Build a reliable farming loadout

Choose weapons around the mission’s dominant targets rather than around aircraft price. Multi-target air-to-air weapons can shorten dense aerial phases, while bombs or land-attack weapons can reduce repeated passes over clustered surface targets. Standard missiles remain the flexible fallback for mixed missions.

Spend on parts that support the chosen loop. Missile performance, ammunition, targeting, or aircraft handling can be more valuable than a new airframe when they remove a repeat pass or prevent a failure. Change one part of the setup at a time and compare complete runs; otherwise, you will not know which purchase improved the route.

Squadron commands can also protect the run. Focused attacks, dispersed attacks, special-weapon use, and cover have different purposes. Use them to reduce pressure on the objective or keep enemies off your tail, not as a substitute for your own target priorities. Their exact value depends on the mission state and the squadron’s aircraft.

Common MRP mistakes

  • Grinding too soon: Progressing the campaign unlocks more missions and gives you more choices. Early repetition should serve a specific purchase.
  • Buying wide instead of deep: Several unrelated low-cost nodes can delay the branch that contains the aircraft you actually want.
  • Counting only the final aircraft price: Mandatory weapons, parts, and earlier planes make the real route more expensive.
  • Chasing gross payout: Loading, retries, failures, and long mission phases all reduce MRP per minute.
  • Using a difficulty you cannot clear reliably: A higher reward multiplier does not recover time lost to repeated failures.
  • Ignoring carrier restrictions and target mix: A purchase can be powerful yet unavailable or poorly equipped for the next sortie.
  • Confusing campaign and online progression: ACE COMBAT ONLINE uses separate progression and save data.
  • Assuming expensive means universally better: Aircraft differ in handling and special-weapon access; mission fit matters more than price alone.

MRP plan by campaign stage

StagePractical plan
Early campaignUse the free Hornet, select one Aircraft Tree destination, and keep advancing unless a specific purchase is blocking progress.
Mid-campaign shortageRepeat a reliable unlocked mission, buy the exact weapon, part, or aircraft needed, then return to progression.
First campaign finishAvoid trying to complete every branch. Preserve a coherent loadout and finish the story.
Post-campaignUse Free Mission to test Missions 7, 24, 28, and any other unlocked candidates by net MRP per minute.
Completion goalsCombine farming with ranks, Aces, medals, and repeat campaign clears so the same time advances more than one objective.
Long-term accumulationTreat the 25,000,000-MRP milestone as a multi-run objective, not a reason to force one monotonous route before finishing other goals.

The dependable Ace Combat 8 MRP strategy is therefore simple: spend toward one planned destination, finish every farming sortie, and measure the whole loop. Your best mission is the one your current aircraft and skill level can complete quickly and repeatedly—not the one attached to the largest isolated payout claim.
